JEE Advanced 2018 – IIT Kanpur has begun the registration process of JEE Advanced 2018. The last date to register for JEE Advanced 2018 is May 7. Since this is the first time the exam is being conducted as a computer-based exam, candidates can use the JEE Advanced mock test to prepare. A demo/help video facility has also been provided by IIT Kanpur to assist candidates to take the mock test and online exam. The entrance exam will be conducted on May 20, 2018. This is the first time that JEE Advanced 2018 will be held as a computer-based test (CBT). JEE Advanced will have 2 papers which are mandatory for all candidates to qualify. Earlier, on April 18 the registration for Foreign Candidates was opened in online mode. Prior to this, fourth, fifth and sixth JEE Advanced 2018 mock tests were released. The third mock test was released was on February 1, while JEE Advanced 2018 (mock test 2) and 1 were released on January 30 and December 19 respectively.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is the gateway for admission into the IITs and IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and is conducted by one of the seven zonal coordinating (ZC) IITs under the guidance of JAB every year. Only candidates who have qualified in JEE Main 2018 will be eligible to appear in IIT JEE Advanced 2018 for admissions to B.Tech programmes across 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). From 2018, the top 2,24,000 candidates from JEE Main would be eligible to take JEE Advanced for IIT admissions. The medium of JEE Advanced 2018 will be English as well as Hindi language.

What’s new in JEE Advanced 2018?
  • JEE Advanced 2018 will be completely online. The exam will now be computer-based, unlike the previous years when it was pen and paper-based.
  • The horizontal reservation for PwD candidates in each category for admission has been increased to 5% from 3%.
  • Supernumerary seats will be created for female candidates to increase their presence from the existing 8% to 14%.
  • Category-wise distribution of candidates for seats has been changed for 2018.
  • An additional 4000 candidates will be able to sit for the JEE Advanced 2018 making the total number of candidates eligible to appear for the exam to 2,24,000.
  • The application fee of JEE Advanced 2018 has been increased for all categories.
  • A total of 5 exam centres must be chosen while filling the application form instead of the earlier three.
  • During the test, if candidates find any malfunctioning or any problem with the computer, then candidates will be allotted another system and care will be taken that the exam duration of 3 hours is given to them.
  • GST will not be applicable to the registration fee of JEE Advanced 2018.

JEE Advanced Application Form 2018

IIT Kanpur has released the application form of JEE Advanced 2018 for all other candidates from May 2 to 7, 2018 in online mode. Candidates will get just 5 days to fill JEE Advanced 2018 application form, so they must fill and submit the form before the deadline. JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2018

The eligibility criteria of JEE Advanced 2018 include eligibility conditions related to age, number of attempts, marks in qualifying examination, number of subjects in qualifying test, etc. Before filling the application, all candidates must carefully check JEE Advanced 2018 eligibility criteria to get complete clarity if they are eligible for the test. All Indian, as well as foreign candidates, are eligible to apply for the entrance exam, however, they meet the JEE Advanced eligibility criteria 2018.


General Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced 2018
  • Age Limit: General Category candidates must have been born on or after October 1, 1993, while candidates belonging to ST/SC/PwD categories will get 5 years relaxation.
  • Number of Attempts: Candidates can sit for JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
  • Qualifying Examination: Aspiring candidates are required to have passed their 12th exam in either 2017 or 2018.
  • Earlier Admission at IITs/ISM: Candidates who have been earlier admitted to IITs/ISM will not be eligible to apply for JEE Advanced 2018.
  • Candidates are required to have qualified JEE Main and meet the required cutoff ranks set by the concerned authorities.

JEE Advanced Exam Pattern 2018

IIT Kanpur may come up with some changes in the exam pattern of JEE Advanced 2018 as the exam has gone completely online from the year 2018. However, the details will be shared in due course of time. Candidates are advised to go through the test pattern of JEE Advanced beforehand to get a grip on how the paper and the type of questions. However, the test pattern of JEE Advanced is not fixed or released, it keeps on changing every year. But candidates can get an overall idea by looking at the test pattern of JEE Advanced of previous years. If a candidate has checked well JEE Advanced exam pattern 2018, then he/she will be able to plan the execute a plan for preparation accordingly. JEE Advanced 2018 paper pattern includes aspects related to test like marking scheme, the total number of questions, type and nature of questions, mode of exam, etc.


As per the exam pattern of previous year,
  • JEE Advanced consists of 2 papers (Paper I and Paper II) and both are mandatory to attempt. Both the papers will be conducted for 3 hours each.
  • The examination will be held in English and Hindi language.
  • Both Paper I and Paper II will have questions from 3 sections – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Marking Scheme – JEE Advanced 2018 is expected to have full marking, partial marking, zero marking and negative marking.

  • Questions with one or more correct option (s) – in these questions +4 will be awarded if all correct options are answered, +1 for each correct option answered, 0 when no answer is given and -2 for a wrong answer
  • Single digit integer – (0-9) – 3 marks will be awarded in case of correct answer and o in case of no answer. There is no negative marking for these questions
  • Questions with a single correct option – 3 marks will be awarded for a correct answer, 0 for no answer and -1 for a wrong answer.

JEE Advanced Mock Test 2018

IIT Kanpur has released the fourth, fifth and sixth mock test on February 27. The third JEE Advanced mock test  was released on February 1. JEE Advanced 2018 (Mock Test 2) was released on January 30. Earlier, JEE Advanced mock test 1 was released on December 19, 2017. This is the first time JEE Advanced will be a computer-based test and therefore this is also the first time that a mock test for the exam has been announced. Candidates can use the mock test of JEE Advanced to get familiar with the new exam format and computer-based environment of the exam. Candidates may note that the mock test has questions from the previous year papers and can be taken in English or Hindi. The mock test is a tool to aid students and is not indicative of the number of questions, exam pattern, type of questions to expect or the marks awarded. The JEE Advanced 2018 mock test is for 180 minutes and has three sections form each subject namely – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Candidates may note that the total marks in the test for each subject are 80. Candidates can navigate between sections, save their responses, mark some for review and so on in the JEE Advanced mock test 2018.

JEE Advanced Answer Key 2018

The answer key of JEE Advanced 2018 will be released on May 29 in online mode.  The responses of the candidates will be mailed to them from May 22 to 25. JEE Advanced Result 2018

IIT Kanpur will declare the result of JEE Advanced 2018 on June 10, 2018. JEE Advanced 2018 result will be announced in online mode only for those candidates who have taken the test. Candidates must check their JEE Advanced result 2018 by logging into the result portal and entering their registration number and date of birth. Candidates can check their marks in individual subjects as well as the total marks scored with the name, roll number and application number of JEE Advanced along with category-wise All India Rank (AIR) through the result.

JEE Advanced Rank List 2018

IIT Kanpur will announce the rank list of JEE Advanced 2018 along with the result on June 10, 2018. The JEE Advanced 2018 rank list will be prepared based on candidates performance in Paper I and Paper II. The rank list will be prepared only for those candidates who will have appeared in the national level engineering entrance test for IIT admissions.


JEE Advanced Cutoff 2018

The cutoff of JEE Advanced 2018 will be released by IIT Kanpur which is the exam conducting authority. The cutoff of JEE Advanced 2018 is the minimum rank at which admission/seat to any particular college or course has been allotted to a candidate. In other words, candidates having ranks below than the JEE Advanced cutoff 2018 will not be considered eligible for admissions. JEE Advanced 2018 Counselling & Seat Allotment

The counselling and seat allotment of JEE Advanced 2018 will be conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) in seven round for admissions to B.Tech programmes across IITs. JEE Advanced 2018 counselling & seat allotment will tentatively begin from the third week of June and will continue till the third week of July 2018. Qualifying candidates will be offered admission into IITs based on their marks/score in JEE Advanced, choice-filled and registration for JoSAA counselling and seat allotment.
